New Phasemation EA-1500 phono preamplifier, compatible with MM, MC, and DS

Previewed at the Tokyo show, the Phasemation EA-1500 sits between the EA-1200 and EA-2000, with an added touch of modernity.

A fan of half-width chassis, Phasemation has developed its best phono preamps by adding boxes. On the EA-1200, each channel is separated into its own device, both powered by a third box, which can itself be limited to a single side when a fourth (PS-1200) is added. On the EA-2000, this four-chassis structure (i.e., two phonos and two power supplies) is further extended by the separation of the MC transformers, positioned in two other chassis, for a total of six.

And yet, when considering the development of an intermediate device between these two models, the engineers maintained the separation of the power supply and the audio section on the EA-1500, but returned to a two-wide chassis structure. Perfectly separated internally, the circuits remain entirely left and right in the two boxes, the power supply with one vacuum tube per channel, the phono with three double triodes per channel.

With a step-up transformer stage for MC cartridges, the EA-1500 not only plays MM and MC cartridges, but goes even further by falling under the enchantment of DS Audio photoelectric cartridges. Thanks to this technology, the new Phasemation can become the modern analog hub of the system, connecting either in a purely balanced connection on the inputs and outputs, or in an unbalanced configuration.

Coming soon to France and Belgium through distributor Ana Mighty Sound, this phono stage of the future is priced just above the EA-1200 with two power supplies (20 000 €), at 21 500 €.
